Gas Central

I love the dichotomy in this shot between the gas meter and the wild graffiti all around it. It’s the power surrounded by the revolution.

Jonathan Klein’s TED Talk on the power of images.

Awesome

Photographs do more than document history — they make it. At TED University, Jonathan Klein of Getty Images shows some of the most iconic, and talks about what happens when a generation sees an image so powerful it can’t look away — or back.

Up and Down

chrisholt

I find this photo to be one of those shots where content and context merge. The cross in the centre marking the boundary between the dark descent and the lighter ascent certainly makes it’s point within the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca. This being a Catholic monastery what else could one expect. To the left there also happens to be 666 “arches” framing the long passage down into the town of Bologna. You couldn’t make this up.
